AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and Visual Studio Code are powerful, but without access to your Craft.io data, they lack the context of how your organization actually works.
The Craft.io MCP server changes that by securely connecting supported AI tools to your Craft.io Workspace, Portfolio, and Feedback Portal.
Once connected, your AI assistant can work with your live product data - including roadmaps, OKRs, customer feedback, delivery status, dependencies, and more - and take actions in Craft.io on your behalf.
What is MCP?
MCP, or Model Context Protocol, is an open standard that allows AI assistants to securely connect to external systems and tools.
Think of it as a universal adapter: instead of building a separate integration for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, and other AI tools, Craft.io can expose its data and capabilities through one standard.
Through MCP, an AI assistant can securely read and search Craft.io data, understand your product context, and - depending on your permissions - create and update items on your behalf.
How MCP works
MCP connects three components:
Host - the AI tool you’re working in, such as Claude or ChatGPT.
Client - the MCP capability within the AI tool that manages the connection and sends requests.
Server - the external system the AI connects to - in this case, the Craft.io MCP server, which provides access to Craft.io data and actions.
When you ask your AI assistant to work with Craft.io, the MCP client communicates with the Craft.io MCP server on your behalf. The server processes the request according to your Craft.io access and permissions and returns the relevant information or performs the requested action.
The Craft.io MCP server is remotely hosted, so there’s nothing to install or maintain locally.
What you can do
Most AI interactions require you to bring the context. When your AI tool is connected to Craft.io via MCP, your workspace becomes the context instead.
Find and understand product information
Ask questions about your roadmap, initiatives, features, OKRs, dependencies, or customer feedback without navigating through Craft.io to find the information yourself.
Create and update product work
Turn conversations or ideas into Craft.io items, update existing work, add descriptions, change fields, or organize information directly from your AI assistant.
Capture feedback automatically
The Craft.io MCP Server can help structure and route customer insights from Gong transcripts, support tickets, Slack conversations or meeting notes. AI assistants can extract themes, identify trends, and create structured feedback entries automatically.
Analyze and synthesize product context
Bring together information from across Craft.io to identify patterns, summarize progress, compare priorities, or understand what’s happening across a portfolio or workspace.
Support recurring product workflows
Use your AI assistant to help with activities such as status reporting, roadmap reviews, backlog preparation, and documentation using live Craft.io context.
Security and access
MCP works within your existing Craft.io permissions - it does not give an AI assistant access to anything you cannot already access in Craft.io. Account admins can further control who can use MCP, whether their access is read-only or read/write, and which spaces they can access.

The Craft.io MCP server works with MCP-compatible AI tools, including Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and VS Code. Setup varies depending on the AI tool you’re using.
