Key Takeaways

  • Sync to an Existing Item: Connect a Craft.io item to a Jira or Azure DevOps item that already exists, without deleting and recreating either side.

Sync to an Existing Item

Until now, Craft.io created the sync link only at the moment an item was created - you either pushed a new item from Craft.io into Jira or Azure DevOps, or pulled a new item in from there. If the same piece of work already existed on both sides, there was no way to connect the two. The only path was to delete one of them and recreate it through the sync, giving up whatever lived on the deleted side.

Now, an unsynced Craft.io item's Jira or Azure DevOps tab, located within the item's properties panel, shows both a Sync to existing item button and the regular Sync item button. Search for the existing item by ID or URL to find an exact match. Next, select your direction in the Confirm sync direction pop-up: Push Craft.io data updates the dev tool with Craft.io fields, while Pull Jira data imports the dev tool's values. Selecting either option immediately starts standard sync.
