Terminology customization: Feedback, Company and Idea

Release Notes | May 11th, 2026

Key Takeaways

Portal Terminology in the workspace

Until now, the custom “Feedback” and “Company” names configured in your Feedback Portal settings stayed inside the portal and the workspace always displayed the default labels regardless of your portal setup. This created an inconsistency for teams who had customized their portal terminology.

With this update, the workspace reads your Feedback Portal terminology and applies it consistently everywhere. For example, if your portal calls feedback items "Ideas" and companies “Customers”, the workspace will follow this terminology across all surfaces.

To use it, update your terminology in Feedback Portal → General Settings → Portal Terminology. The workspace will automatically reflect your preferred names - no additional configuration required.

Custom Idea Terminology

The Idea item type is used by product teams across a wide range of discovery processes - from mapping market opportunities and framing user problems, to running hypothesis-driven experiments and structured ideation. However, the fixed "Idea" label doesn't always reflect the specific process a team follows, making it harder to align the tool with the way the team thinks and works.

With this update, you can now customize the Idea item type name directly from terminology settings to better match your process. For example, if your team works with opportunity mapping, you can rename it to “Opportunity”, and if your process centers on framing and validating user problems, “Problem” is a more accurate fit. The updated name propagates to every place the Idea item type is referenced across your workspace.

To get started, navigate to Settings → Terminology, scroll to the end of the terminology table, and select your preferred name under the Discovery row.
