Custom Fields Management Enhancements

Release Notes | July 13th, 2026

Key Takeaways

Duplicate Custom Fields

Creating similar custom fields repeatedly — like a new quarter field each quarter — meant rebuilding from scratch every time. All field values had to be re-entered manually, with no way to reuse an existing field as a starting point.

With this update, workspace admins can duplicate any existing custom field. The duplicate includes the field's values, and optionally the assigned values on work items. This makes it straightforward to create recurring fields without manual rework.

To duplicate a custom field, open the 3-dot menu on any custom field and select Duplicate.

Promote Custom Field to Portfolio Field

When a workspace custom field proved useful beyond a single workspace, there was no direct way to elevate it to the portfolio level. The only option was to manually create an equivalent portfolio field and reassign all work item values from scratch.

With this update, promoting a custom field from workspace to portfolio level is done with a single click. All field values are carried over automatically. No manual reassignment needed.

To promote a custom field, open the 3-dot menu on any workspace custom field and select Promote to Portfolio Field.

Default Values for Milestone and Timeframe Fields

Until now, default values were only supported for standard selection fields. Milestone and timeframe fields had no default value option, requiring users to set them manually on every new item.

With this update, workspace admins can define a default value for milestone and timeframe custom fields, the same way they do for other selection fields.

To set a default value, open the field settings for any milestone or timeframe custom field and select your preferred default.
