Click here for an overview of what you can do once connected.

Before you start

You will need:

  • A ChatGPT account with MCP support enabled

  • A Craft.io account with an Editor seat

  • Access to at least one Craft.io workspace

  • A Craft.io API key provided by your Craft.io team

Contact the Craft.io Customer Success team for your API key, and more guidance on getting started with the MCP server.

Step 1: Enable Developer mode in ChatGPT

Follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings > Apps.

  • Toggle on Developer mode. This allows you to add external connectors including MCP servers.

Note: Developer mode disables ChatGPT's memory for the session. You can disable it again after your Craft.io connection is established.

Step 2: Add the Craft.io MCP endpoint

Follow these steps:

  • Select New App

  • Enter the following details:

  • Tick the 'I understand and want to continue' checkbox

  • Click Create to save the configuration

This will open up the Craft.io MCP server authentication page in your browser.

Step 3: Authorize your Craft.io account

You will be redirected to the Craft.io authorization page.

  • Paste your API key into the CRAFT.IO API KEY field

  • Click Connect.

If you do not have an API key, contact your account admin or your Craft.io customer success representative.

Step 4: Start using Craft.io inside ChatGPT

Once connected, ChatGPT can work directly with your Craft.io workspace. Try prompts like:

  • "List my Craft.io workspaces"

  • "Show my active roadmap epics"

  • "Find onboarding feedback from the last quarter"

  • "Create a new feature request for analytics reporting"

What you can do once connected

After connecting, ChatGPT can:

  • Search roadmap items and feedback

  • Summarize product data and analyze dependencies

  • Create and update work items

  • Generate PRDs and release notes

  • Capture structured feedback from conversations or transcripts

Security and permissions

  • Access follows the permissions of the connected Craft.io user

  • API keys can be scoped to specific workspaces or portals

  • Write actions may require your approval before execution

  • All agent actions are logged in the activity log with a via Agent label - full audit trail

Troubleshooting

If Craft.io tools do not appear:

  • Verify the MCP server URL is correct

  • Confirm Developer mode is enabled in Settings > Apps

  • Confirm your API key and workspace permissions are valid

  • Refresh or restart ChatGPT
