The Timeline Roadmap in Craft.io has been redesigned to deliver faster performance and a cleaner, more intuitive experience. These enhancements make it easier to plan, present, and share your product roadmap with stakeholders and teams.
This article walks you through the new features and how to use them effectively.

Accessing the Timeline Roadmap
The Timeline view is available in both Workspace and Portfolio.
Existing timelines can be converted to the new format by clicking on 'Actions' next to the view's title and clicking on 'convert'.
Any newly created timeline views will automatically use the redesigned structure.
Structuring your Timeline
To drive consistency around roadmap capabilities, the Timeline view includes a Sort by function to arrange roadmap items by system fields such as Importance, Status, or Hierarchy, or by any custom field you’ve created.
When sorting by Hierarchy, expandable and collapsible shaded groups make it easy to manage multiple levels of items.
Under the View Settings, the Auto-Stack feature ensures your roadmap is always clear and visually aligned, whether you are zoomed in on details or presenting a high-level view.
To support you paint the most accurate picture for your stakeholders, you can customize the 'Group by' controller to group items by multi-select fields such as Objectives, Key Results, Milestones, or Custom Timeframes.
Items contributing to multiple objectives or cadences appear in each relevant swimlane, helping teams clearly visualize alignment.
Tracking Progress and Dependencies
Only items that have assigned dates appear on the timeline, keeping your roadmap focused and organized. If any items within a swimlane are missing dates, an icon will appear to alert you, drawing your attention to gaps that need addressing. Clicking the icon opens a filterable table view, making it easy to quickly identify and resolve missing dates.
At the same time, each item card provides an instant visual overview of progress, with a progress bar at the top that is color-coded according to the percentage of completion, giving you a clear, at-a-glance sense of how work is advancing.
Generally, one of the most common use cases for using the Timeline Roadmap is for dependency management. For a clean and clear management of dependencies, a pop-up window appears, showing blockers, related items, and cross-workspace links.
If an item is blocked by delayed or incomplete dependencies, a Risk indicator will appear next to the dependency to help you take action more effectively.
Color Coding and Legend Bar
The Legend Bar gives you powerful control over color coding, allowing you to apply visual cues that make your roadmap easier to interpret at a glance.
You can use system fields such as Status or Persona, or leverage custom fields to highlight the dimensions that matter most to your team.
By layering these visual indicators, you can display multiple layers of context in a single view, helping stakeholders and team members quickly understand priorities, ownership, and progress across your roadmap.
