Key Takeaways

Improved CSV import mechanism

In this release, we've significantly enhanced our CSV import mechanism, recognizing its crucial role in the onboarding process of a new workspace. We have introduced a new wizard that simplifies the import process into three straightforward steps:

  1. Define the Item Type: Choose the type of item you wish to import—Epics, Features, or Stories. Currently, only one item type can be imported at a time, so if your CSV contains multiple types (e.g., Epics and Features), you'll need to run the import process separately for each.

  2. Map CSV Columns to Craft.io Fields: Map the columns from your CSV file to the corresponding fields in Craft.io. More details on this step are provided in the next section.

  3. Select or Create a Default Parent Item: Assign the newly created items to a parent item within your workspace. You can either select an existing parent item or create a new one during this step.

Once these steps are completed, you can initiate the import process. Additionally, a "dry run" option is available, allowing you to validate the import process without actually importing the data.

Field Mapping for CSV Imports

One of the most significant enhancements in this release is the ability to map your CSV columns to Craft.io’s system or custom fields. Previously, only the title and description could be imported. Now, during the second step of the import process, all CSV columns are displayed on the left side, ready to be mapped to Craft.io’s fields.

You can map columns to a variety of fields, including selection fields, text fields, date fields, number fields, and even team member fields. If a necessary custom field is missing, you can quickly create one without leaving the import flow. This update ensures that all relevant data from your CSV file can be accurately imported into Craft.io.
