Key Takeaways
Capacity planning modes - By switching between modes, items that have been filtered out can now be included or excluded from the summation and capacity.
Apply capacity planning items to release/sprint - Improved usability, now you can move opted out items to a release/sprint of your choice.
Capacity Planning Modes
Capacity planning is a process of matching items' effort to the capacity of a release or a sprint. Our previous capacity mode included all items in summation, even when filtered out. The filtered out items remained in sprint/release summation to indicate you weren't exceeding the overall summation.
As a result of your feedback, we have added two more capacity planning modes to improve the capacity planning process:
Exclude filtered out items from summation
Resource summation will include only items that are currently visible on the table. Use this option when you want to see the sum of items of a specific product or hierarchy level.Exclude filtered out items from summation & capacity
Resource summation will include only items that are currently visible on the table, and capacity value does not include items not shown on the table. Use this option when you want to match the resources of the visible items with the remaining capacity.
For example, all the items in Team A were estimated and filtered out, I want to see what capacity is left for other Teams' items.
By clicking the settings icon in the capacity planning view, you can switch between capacity planning modes.
Apply Capacity Planning Items to Release/Sprint
By using the IN/OUT toggle, you can simulate how various resources might impact capacity without modifying sprint/release items. Our latest release allows you to move opted out items to the Sprint/Release of your choice when clicking "Apply". For example: some items didn't fit within the scope of this sprint, so they will be moved to the next sprint.
