Key Takeaways

  • Status Automation Rules map between Dev Statuses and Craft.io Statuses, so Craft.io Statuses are automatically updated when there are changes in the Dev Statuses.

  • Prioritization fields in the item’s panel are now organized by methodologies.

  • More ways to add Guru Fields into your Craft.io workspaces

Status Automation Rules

Monitoring dev progress across the different items planned for release is a core aspect of product management. Craft.io’s built-in statuses encapsulate the whole product process, from ideation and design to development and deployment, affecting various views and stats. Dev Statuses, on the other hand, are imported from integrated development tools such as Jira and Azure DevOps and are read-only; their representation is limited to the development part of the product life cycle.

Today, we are proud to release Status Automation Rules. Status Automation Rules map between Dev Statuses and Craft.io Statuses, so that Craft.io Statuses are automatically updated when there are changes in Dev Statuses. For example, you can set up rules so that whenever a Jira item status is moved to “Done”, the item’s corresponding Craft.io Status is updated to “Dev Done”; whenever a Jira item status is moved to “To Do”, the corresponding Craft.io Status is updated to “Ready for Dev”. This feature is super powerful, as it allows you to stay focused on the entire product process, while the development stage is automatically updated by your developers on Jira or on Azure DevOps. Please note that to use this feature, Craft.io should be bi-directionally synced with Jira / Azure DevOps to enable webhooks.

Prioritization Fields Reorganized

Some workspaces use multiple prioritization methodologies, reflecting the specific prioritization approaches of different teams using the same workspace. To reduce confusion, we have reorganized the prioritization fields in the item panel; instead of a long list containing all of the different prioritization fields used within a given workspace, fields are now clustered by methodology. You can also use this area to add any of Craft.io’s wide selection of built-in prioritization fields, using the Guru Prioritizations button.

Guru Fields

Another helpful feature we added is the ability to add customized, built-in fields called Guru Fields, from the Add Custom Fields dialog. These fields represent leading product management best practices that we recommend you add to your product process. Guru Fields include prioritization methodologies, segmentations, capacity planning fields, and more. As always, only workspace admins can add custom fields to the workspace.

We hope you enjoy Craft.io’s latest features! Jump into Craft.io and try them out for yourself.

And don't forget to give us your feedback and thoughts in our Craft.io Feedback Portal.
