Learn how to update multiple items at once using the bulk actions

Bulk actions let you update multiple items at once without opening each one individually. Select items in any table view, and a control bar appears at the bottom of the screen with the available actions.

This is useful when you're doing sprint planning, reorganizing a backlog, or syncing a batch of items to your dev tool after a planning session.

How to use bulk actions

  1. Open a Table View (such as the Product Backlog)

  2. Check the box next to each item you want to update - or check the box in the column header to select all

  3. The bulk action bar appears at the bottom of the screen, allowing for quick update of the Status field and the relevant field you are currently grouping by (in the example below, the Product).

  4. Select the field or action to apply and confirm

  5. If you'd like to bulk update multiple field values at once, select Multiple Fields before making relevant edits and clicking Apply

Changes apply to all selected items at once.

Bulk actions are also available in other views, such as Kanban, Timeline, and Swimlane, however the Table view offers the most complete set of bulk action options and is the recommended starting point for large-scale updates.

What you can update in bulk

The following fields and actions are available from the bulk action bar:

  • Status

  • Assignee and Dev Assignee

  • Labels

  • Quarter / Sprint / Timeframe

  • Initiative - requires Portfolio access; the dropdown will not appear for users without it

  • Personas, Objectives and Key Results

  • Custom fields - including date selection, numerical, single-select, and multi-select fields

  • Push to Jira / ADO / GitHub - sync multiple items to your dev tool in one action
