When you first open Craft, you’ll notice different “views” in the left navigation panel. Views are simply different ways to look at the same work — and you only need one to get started. You don’t need to learn everything at once.
Follow these steps to get oriented quickly:
What is a view in Craft.io?
A view is a way to see and organize your work.
The same backlog can look different depending on the view.
Views help you answer different questions:
What’s in my backlog?
What are we working on now?
What’s coming next?
Where do views live?
Views live in the left navigation panel.
You’ll see views under your Workspace or Portfolio.
Clicking a view never changes your data — only how you see it.
Table View - your starting point
The only view you need right now is the table view.
Best for:
Creating your first backlog.
Adding and editing items.
Understanding your hierarchy.
You can safely ignore other view types for now — you’ll come back to them later.
Collaborative vs personal views
Collaborative views: are visible to all users (both read and read/write) in your Workspace or Portfolio.
Created and managed by Workspace and Portfolio Admins.
Ideal for shared rituals, planning, reporting, and stakeholder updates.
Can be organized into folders for easier navigation.
Personal views: Personal Views belong only to you and are best used for exploration or focused analysis.
Can be created by any user for his own purposes.
Helpful for your own filters, dashboards, analysis, or focus lists.
Can be changed freely without affecting shared team workflow.
💡 Use Actions to rename views and organize them into folders so teams can find the right views faster.
What comes next?
Now that you know how to navigate views, you’re ready to:
Create your first backlog
Understand how items relate to each other
Start shaping your roadmap
