The Braindump is a plain text editor that allows you to literally 'dump' your thoughts and ideas without the hassle of writing in a certain structure, hierarchy, or format. Once you record your thoughts, you can return at a later stage and convert the text to actionable items (such as a Section, Feature, Requirement, Task, Bug, or Improvement).

The Braindump is available through every screen and is personal for each user. There is no limit to the amount of information you can enter.

Access the Braindump by clicking the Braindump icon located in the upper-right corner of every screen.

Click the text field and begin to draft your thoughts. The following is an example text added to the Braindump without particular logic or format.

The text can be formatted using the formatting toolbar displays above when highlighting the text. The toolbar allows changing the typography (Bold, Italic, Underline and Strikethrough), add bullet/numbered list, increase/decrease indent and insert a link.

If you come across ideas from your Braindump that you'd like to convert into Craft.io items, you can take specific text and turn it into a Section, Feature, Requirement, Improvement, Task or Bug.

Convert Braindump text to Items

  1. Select the text you want to convert to an item.

  2. Click the '+' Create as button which will appear beside the selected text.

  3. Select item type you'd like to convert the text to.

  4. The item's main editing screen will automatically open up. You can now add a description and assign the item to Releases/Sprints/Personas and team members.

Note: if you select one row of text, it will be added as the item title. If you select multiple rows of text, the first row will be added as the item title and the rest of the text as the description.
