Zapier automatically connects Craft with other apps using workflows called Zaps. For example, you can add a Zap which will create new items in Craft each time you post something in messenger channel or add a new issue in an issue tracking system and vice versa.

You can make your own Zaps or find popular Zaps for Craft here https://zapier.com/apps/craft/integrations. You can also access popular Zap templates from Craft app by going to 9-dot menu on the upper right corner, clicking Sync > Zapier > Create Zap.

Before you connect Zapier to Slack, make sure you first create a Zapier account.

Connect Zapier to Craft

To create a Zap, you should pick trigger and action apps.

Set up Craft as a trigger app

  1. Log in to Zapier and click Make a Zap or Use this Zap from a popular Craft Zaps here https://zapier.com/apps/craft/integrations
  2. Select Craft as a trigger app.
  3. Select Craft trigger New Item. This means that Zapier will watch for new items created in Craft.
  4. Connect to Craft account by entering your Craft credentials: email address, password and Craft domain URL. Click Test to test connection.
  5. Click Save + Continue.
  6. On Set up Craft Item step, set up parameters of new Craft items that will trigger action in another app.
  • Product: Select Craft product from the Product dropdown. Note: Craft product will appear in this dropdown only if you have Owner permissions for it.
  • Item Type: Select Craft item type you want to be synced with. This step is optional, if you leave it blank, trigger will work for items of all types.

    8. Complete the setup of your Zap by following prompts.

Set up Craft as an action app

  1. Log in to Zapier and click Make a Zap or Use this Zap from a popular Craft Zaps here https://zapier.com/apps/craft/integrations
  2. Select a trigger app and follow prompts to configure it.
  3. On Choose an Action App step, select Craft.
  4. Select Create/Update Item as an action. This action creates a new item or updates an existing item (story, requirement, task, bug, improvement) in Craft.
  5. Connect to Craft account by entering your Craft credentials: email address, password and Craft domain URL.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. On Set up Craft Item step, define parameters of new Craft items that will be created by this Zapier automation.

Required Craft item parameters:

  • Product: Select Craft product from the Product dropdown. Note: Craft product will appear in this dropdown only if you have Owner permissions for it.
  • Item Type: You can choose between Story and Requirement.
  • Sprint: We recommend to choose Backlog, unless you want your new items appear in particular Craft sprint.
  • Version: By choosing Parking Lot, new Craft items generated by this integration will land in a default Craft container, which basically means that no version is assigned yet to this item.
  • Title: Choose parameter which corresponds to what you want to see as title of new Craft items. It can be message text, or an item name depending on a trigger app that you picked.
  • Priority: Set Low, Medium, High or Blocker priority.

Optional Craft item parameters:

You can also set up other item parameters like Team, Labels, Column, etc. depending on your needs.

Pay attention to this optional parameter, which will come handy if you want to update items that were once created by this integration:
Sourse ID: Map it to the ID parameter of the item from the Trigger app.

     8. Complete the setup of your Zap by following prompts.
